Kami and Project Based Learning (PBL)

Kami and PBL: Steve Martinez will join Oliver and will show you, through Kami, how to align the content standards, literacy, standards, CTE standards, or general skills that he wanted students to work on. Students write learning targets that will be used throughout the PBL unit, document how each learning target will be hit or mastered, and then have a column for feedback and reflection (self-reflection, peer-to-peer reflection, and/or teacher-to-student feedback).

Presenter: Oliver R. Tingling, MBA, MSEd is an accomplished educator for 9 years in the public and independent school sectors. Oliver was a former Dean of Students along with teaching Math and Science for grades 6-12. He taught numerous courses which include Algebra I, Statistics, Transitional Math, and Physics.
Oliver got introduced to Kami in 2020, got Level 1 and 2 certified, and became a Brand Ambassador in 2021. Oliver recently left the classroom in 2022 to promote Kami full time where he is training numerous educators and administrative leaders on how Kami goes behind just being a tool for annotations across the nation. Presenter: Steve Martinez is a former Social Science teacher with a fervor for Edtech that allows him to leverage technology in transformative ways through blended learning, mastery learning, Project-Based Learning, Design Thinking, and student inquiry. He has experience implementing the Flipped Classroom model that allowed for his students to experience content for the first time outside of the classroom and engage the complex problems they face. in their local community. In the Spring of 2022, Steve was awarded the Emerging Teacher of the Year at Spring CUE which included all of California. Recently,. Steve has joined the Kami family full-time, which has opened doors for him to share his love of teaching with educators, administrators and directors from all over the world. He holds his Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Education Technology.
