Formats

In-Depth Workshops – 2.5 hours – Consider leading and facilitating a hands-on workshop. The longer time format allows for time for attendees to try and practice a new skill, explore a new tool, or build an activity. Or, consider a symposia-style engagement that allows time for educators to work in groups to discuss and plan for the fall. The longer time format will allow you to both present information, pose questions and host conversations in groups. Accepted proposals for In-Depth Workshops will include free 1-day registration for up to two workshop facilitators.

Standard Workshop – 55 minutes – What’s something new and innovative that you’d like to share with your peers? Teach others a successful strategy or share about a new project that you’ve been working on. Perhaps there’s a topic that needs some investigation and debate…consider hosting a panel discussion or a round-table discussion? Workshops can be presentations, hands-on workshops, or panel discussions. If you have another idea, please propose it! Accepted proposals for Standard Workshops will include free 1-day registration for one facilitator.

Bookend Workshops — 110 minutes — A bookend workshop is similar to the In-Depth Workshop except that rather than one long block of time, the Bookend Workshop will use two Standard workshop blocks (Monday 8-8:55AM and Tuesday 1:55-2:50PM). This format will allow you to introduce a topic/skill, and then set up a project or task for attendees to work on during the course of the conference, and then reconvene at the end of the conference for another block of time for you to provide support, add new ideas, allow attendees to share their progress, and plan for the future.

Innovation Lounge – 120 minutes – The Innovation Lounge hosts hands-on opportunities for attendees to engage with instructional technology tools and projects. As a host, you are available to provide information, answer questions, and help attendees explore and learn about your topic. Examples include robotics, maker technologies like 3D printers or laser cutters, or AR/VR technologies. The Innovation Lounge will be open during the 4 hours blocks when Standard Workshops are hosted. Hosts are asked to be available for either a 2-hour block or a 1-hour block. The 1-hour blocks are concurrent to the two lunch blocks on Monday so that no one is asked to miss lunch!

Innovation Lounge time slots will be:

    • Monday 10:25-12:25 PM
    • Tuesday 10:40-12:40 PM or 12:50-2:50PM
