School Librarians do far more than just teach. Existing evaluative structures do not necessarily support this specialized skill set. Come learn about how to find an experienced mentor, or how to BECOME a mentor yourself! For mentors we offer professional learning (a 2 credit course and ongoing PD) around the AASL standards, current evaluation models in the state, as well as specific training on the skills necessary for mentorship: structured conversations, continuum of interaction and developing you skills as a Growth Agent are all included!
Nancy Daigle is a librarian of 20 years, NBCT, and passionate about mentorship. She coordinates the Mentoring program in her district, and two years ago wrote a grant with Judy Kaplan to support new librarians in the state of Vermont.
