March Monthly Meeting: Focus Social Emotional Learning

This month we’ll be talking about Social Emotional Learning as well as Career Exploration. We will learn about a suite of products from The Social Express that is being used by schools around the nation including in Vermont. In February, The Social Express sponsored an informative webinar for Vita-Learn about Trauma Informed Practices. This conversation has helped prompt a deeper look at this topic.

A Panel will share how educators are using The Social Express in their districts, the feedback from their educators and the impact it is having on their students.

  • Caitlin Arcangeli, Social Cognition Intervention Specialist, North Country Supervisory Union, VT
  •  Rachel Bria, Dept. Head of Psychology, Stamford Public Schools, CT
  • Dr. Perri Murdica, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Canton Public Schools, CT
  •

The Social Express is a comprehensive, engaging Social Emotional Learning & Career Exploration platform with three interactive programs, Social Express, Cool School & Teen Career Path. Programs are geared for Special Education K-12 and General Education PK-6.

Their cloud-based animated programs use clever interactive simulations to teach learners how to be successful in life. Thousands of teachers worldwide are using The Social Express to help students feel less socially isolated and learn how to interact in our very social world. Cool School teaches what to do as a victim or bystander to Cyber, Social, Emotional and Physical bullying. And when there are no community-based career exploration opportunities due to Covid, Teen Career Path is a game-based career game that provides a virtual job shadowing experience in 23 careers.
